Franziskaner is named after the Franciscan monastery across the street from the original brewery, but there's nothing plain about this beer. Celebrate the rich tradition and flavor of Franziskaner beer with these official merchandise items!
Franziskaner traces its roots to the oldest privately owned brewery in Munich, going back to 1363. Over the years they've brewed beer in many different Munich locations under many different owners, but they've always maintained a commitment to producing high-quality beer.
In 1872, they brewed their first Oktoberfest Maerzen. In 1922 they merged with the Spaten brewery to form a single company producing two different brands of beer. In 1935 their current logo was designed, and in 1984 they started exporting worldwide. Today it is the third best selling Wiessbier in the world!
