Spaten Brewery Items

The Spaten brewery started brewing beer in 1397. In 1622 the Spatt family took over operations and changed the name to what we know it as today. Spaten was the largest brewery in Munich in the late 19th century. In 1909 they started exporting their beer to America. In 1922 the Spaten brewery merged with the Franziskaner brewery.

Spaten has a long history of innovation. They lent financial support to the building of the first steam engine in Bavaria, they supported the invention and use of the first continuously operated refrigerator, and in the early 21st century sponsored a scientific expedition to Antarctica!
