Froehliche Weihnachten! Christmas is wonderful in Germany. Each town has its own Christmas market, Weinachtmarkt, that traditionally opens when the mayor lights an enormous tree in the town center.
Gifts are opened on Christmas Eve in Germany. Prior to the evening feast, the German Christmas tree tradition unfolds. While the children are occupied, the Christmas tree is decorated with apples, candy, nuts, cookies and traditional German wooden ornaments. The presents are placed under the tree. Then a bell is rung as a signal for the children to see the tree. The family sings carols and reads the Christmas story before opening gifts.
Germany has some great traditional Christmas decorations like Christmas smokers, Christmas pyramids and Christmas arches. Decorate your house like they do in Germany with authentic German Christmas decorations and traditional German wooden ornaments.
