- This wonderful Limited Edition Collectible is a true masterpiece of the steinmaker's art and is based on a historic original currently in the archives of King-Werk in Hoehr-Grenzhausen, Germany. Sculpted by the Mastersculptor Peter Duemler in Year 1885, this magnificent stein celebrates the famous German King and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Frederick I Barbarossa (Red Beard), who lived from 1122 to 1190 A.D.
- Frederick I Barbarossa was a descendent of the Hohenstaufen family on his father's side and of the Welf family on his mother's side, which were the two most powerful families in Germany at that time. The Germany that Frederick united initially was a patchwork of more than 1600 individual states, each with its own prince.
- To this day some German towns such as Kaiserslautern are still called Town of Barbarossa as he lived there and erected a castle. Frederick was considered one of the most charismatic leaders of his age. While having a handsome appearance, he possessed longevity, boundless ambition, extraordinary organizational skill, and greatness on the battlefield. Legend tells that he is not dead, but asleep with his knights in a cave in Mount Untersberg of Bavaria or in the Kyffhauser mountain in Thuringia. When the ravens cease to fly around the mountain, he will awake.
- An ornately decorated genuine pewter lid crowns this work of art. This is the twelfth in the KING-Limitaet Series of Limited Edition Steins and has a strict Limitation of only 2,500 pieces worldwide. Each stein is individually numbered by hand.
